The Internet has really made a huge difference in how fast you can get the word out about anything and everything. That?s a wonderful thing, and one area where easy photo sharing really comes in handy is with fundraising.

As long as you have an email list that people have opted in to (given you their permission to mail), there are so many different, creative ways you can tell folks about an event. If you?ve never considered easy photo sharing as a way to spread the word, here are a few tips on how you can.

Slide shows. If you?re having a silent auction, easy photo sharing is a great way to spread the word about the items you are auctioning off. First, take photos of the items you are auctioning off, especially the ones that photograph well.

Then, go to one of the easy photo sharing websites on the Internet and upload your photos. It?s simple and the best easy photo sharing sites have tutorials. Once you have your photos uploaded, use their tools to create a slide show of the items you have for auction.

Once you have your slideshow prepared, simply use your email list to invite people to review the items for sale at your silent auction. You can ask that people on your list forward the email to their friends and relatives. This will generate some talk about your event, and get people excited about the items you have for sale.

Photo albums. If your child is active in sports, be sure to take a season?s worth of digital images of all the games, some of the practices, and social events the team holds. Then, upload your photos to an easy photo sharing site.

You can also have the kids on the team take their own digital photos, and have them sent to you. This will help make the album more personal. Once you?re photos are uploaded, use the site to create an online photo album. Creating an online album at an easy photo sharing site won?t take more than a couple of hours of your time. It can include all the fun times from the past season. Be sure to feature all the team members in the album with their own special photo.

Once you have the album created, you can send an announcement to the team telling them the album is for sale. Encourage the people on the list to let grandparents, aunts and uncles and other relatives know that the album is for sale. This will help spread the word and bring sales in from non-team members.

For those seeking to buy a home, a good place to look for help with loans is through the federal government. Some of the more useful and common loan programs that are currently being offered follow:

There are three government agencies that insure mortgages for homebuyers. The first is the Federal Housing Administration (FHA), which is part of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. The second is the Veterans Administration (VA) which works with active duty and non-active duty military personnel. The third is the Rural Housing Service (RHS), which is a branch of the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

Consumers should understand that only approved lenders can offer these loans to homebuyers, and there are certain required standards that the property has to meet in order to qualify for these loans.

Federal Housing Administration Loans (FHA)

Perhaps the most popular agency for home loans is the FHA. The FHA offers a mortgage financing program that insures home loans to homebuyers. The FHA does not actually make the loans to the homebuyers but instead it acts as an insurance policy for lenders. Because the financial requirements for FHA loans are more relaxed when compared to traditional commercial loans, more people are able to purchase homes.

FHA insurance work because it helps lenders to work with those who might not completely fit the lender’s normal loan qualification requirements. FHA requirements reduce the debt-to-income ratio from 28/36, which is the traditional loan requirement, to 29/41 for FHA loans. FHA loans also require a lower down payment of only 5 percent or less, and they allow 100 percent of the money used for the down payment and closing costs to come from a family member. Traditional loans will not let buyers borrow the money used for those fees and payments.

There are maximum loan limits with FHA loans. These limits vary by state or region. You can visit the FHA website to find the limit for your geographical area.

VA Home Loans

Veterans Administration loans have their own policies and procedures. Qualified veterans and active-duty military personnel have been able to buy a home for as much as $417,000 without a down payment or private mortgage insurance for some time now. However the Government National Mortgage Association (Ginnie Mae) has changed its rules to allow larger VA loans if the veteran or service member can make a down payment of at least 25 percent of the portion of the home’s price that exceeds $417,000.

When Painful Things Happen To Great People

Sarah Jane was a typical 9 year old girl with a very untypical question. Having just lost her closest friend to cancer, in the midst of her tearful, half hidden face, Sarah Jane sobbed out the question, “Why do bad things happen to good people?”

Like Sarah Jane, each of us experiences situations where we feel the pains of life’s circumstances. For Sarah Jane it was losing a close friend to cancer, but for many of us it can be the pain experienced when someone spreads hurtful gossip about us, abuses us, betrays us, or simply jerks us around in life. Those circumstances might result in our losing a job, a friend, a love interest, a business deal, or the creation of a rift between family members. The pain we feel is very real, very deep, and sometimes very private. Most people near us don’t understand the scope, or the depth of the pain we carry as a result of the emotional wounding we’ve experienced.

There are varying degrees of pain we often feel in response to situations inflicted upon us by life, or by people. Some levels of pain are small, some are not. For some, there are situations where the wound is so deep, they end up struggling to know how to get out from under the deep inner pain that results. It’s in the midst of a surrounding, choking pain that many people struggle, not knowing what to do, or how to cope.

There are key steps that help us deal with life’s pain. First, we need to privately admit to ourselves, we’ve been hurt, or are hurting! Own it, and recognize that whenever we experience a change in life that results in a loss, no matter how big or small, we will go through a grieving process. It’s important to start at a place of honesty, recognizing your pain for what it is.

Secondly, (and this step in the process, is not easy, for it often goes against our human nature) the next step if the cause of our pain is an offense, is to forgive our offender. By forgiving our offender, we are not letting him or her off the hook as far as consequences are concerned. By forgiving, we’re letting our self off the hook. We are giving up any motivation or thought of revenge. When a person refuses to forgive, they choose to carry the pain, the anger, the bitterness, of the situation around with them every minute of the day and night. The situation becomes an emotional wound that festers like an emotional infection. Until we forgive our offender, our offender ends up owning our emotions.

The third step in our process of responding to life’s deep hurt’s is to find a “safe” friend and share our pain with them. We all have friends in our lives, but what do I mean by the term “safe friend”? Safe friends are friends who listen to you, are empathetic with you, can advise you, but the most important quality in a safe friend, is the person’s ability to respect confidentiality. Not all friends are “safe friends”. “Safe friends” are often few and far between. “Safe friends” can be a current friend, a counselor, a priest, a therapist, a law enforcement officer, someone who’s been through a similar situation, or a person recommended to you by a friend who feels they simply can’t help you but know of a better person who could.

Finally, at some point in our daily life, we need to carry on in life. If we don’t carry on in life, then we’re choosing to let our offender win, and we’re choosing to be our offender’s victim. While this can be difficult to hear when we’re in the depths of a painful experience, being a “victim” is a choice, it’s a mental state, and it can be terribly crippling. For those caught in a victim mentality, they are in the position of strength, for they can choose to no longer be a victim by removing themselves from the situation. If we are being abused or bullied by a person, and we remove our self from that situation, then our abuser or bullier has no more power over us.

The situation was critical and she shared how she was considering using a gun as a solution against her abusive drug addicted sibling. When life really hurts, there are positive solutions that empower us to live life to the fullest in spite of our wounding. As with Sarah Jane, in time, we can bounce back, we can smile again, we can laugh, and we can rise above the hurt we carry deep inside.

Card games used to be very popular. Although they do not enjoy the same degree of popularity today, there are many people that still play them. Because of this, they teach these games to their families as well, allowing them to enjoy more card games and develop a pastime that they may enjoy for many years to come. Not everyone likes card games, and even those people who do like them might have some card games that they enjoy very much while finding others boring or too difficult. A lot of people play solitaire, for example, because they enjoy the strategy of the game and the peacefulness of it. For those that like to play card games with others, there are many different options. Here are 3 card games that can be enjoyed by the whole family:

One: Go Fish. This game is great for the entire family to play because even very young children can be taught the rules. By helping these children along and teaching them how to play the game, parents get to spend a lot of time with them and they also teach them about rules and sportsmanship.

Two: Gin Rummy. While a bit more complicated, the game is not that difficult. Very young children would need help to play this game, but older children would be able to play it, and keep track of the points that are scored for specific card sets at the end of each hand.

Three: Poker. For families that want a little more of a challenge, poker is a good game. Once the rules are mastered, this game teaches people about strategy. If the family wants to bet, they can use M&Ms instead of chips, or they can play for something inexpensive such as pennies. Gambling should not be encouraged in young children, but there is no harm in teaching the strategy of the game for fun.

By playing card games with their children, parents foster a good bond and also an understanding of how to work and share with others, as well as what it means to both win and lose gracefully and with tact. All of these things are valuable lessons that a person can used later in life as well.

Many people seek out therapists for a wide variety of reasons. Perhaps you have issues dealing with stress. Sometimes, you may just need to talk ? and a therapist will make that very easy for you. But there is one problem that many therapists face ? not all clients are completely honest with them.

Complete honesty is vital when talking with your therapist. They can?t help you if they don?t know the truth about what is going on, or how you feel about it. We have been conditioned, as humans, to keep information that we deem private to ourselves, but in the course of working with your therapist, this only serves to make matters worse in many cases, and doesn?t help at all.

This doesn?t mean that you are likely to walk into the therapist?s office and tell outright lies! It means that you may not be totally forthcoming with the truth, simply because you are afraid to let others know your personal business. When this happens, it may lead the therapist to believe that things are completely different than what they actually are, in terms of events or feelings that are affecting your life.

You don?t have to worry about what you tell your therapist. These professionals are bound by laws and ethics that prevent them from telling other people your secrets. You are not conversation for their dinner table. Furthermore, they won?t judge you.

What they may do when you are honest with them, however, is to ensure that you receive the proper type of therapy. They may even discover that you need a different professional to help you with your problem, depending on what the problem is. A great deal can be gained by being honest with your therapist.

Furthermore, there is a great deal to be saved when you are honest with your therapist. If you are honest about what is going on, and how you feel from the outset, you will find that the therapy that you require doesn?t take nearly as long as it might have if you were not completely honest from the beginning. This in turn saves you money ? not to mention time.

So, when you visit your therapist, relax, and be prepared to be completely open and honest with them. Tell them everything ? and answer their questions to the best of your ability.

How To Choose The Best Furnace Filter

It may be difficult to imagine, but houses have lots of dust and selecting the best furnace filter is very important to air quality. Indoor air, according to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, is two to five times more polluted than the outdoor air. But the reason most people are not aware about this is because microscopic size dust particles are present in the home - not visible to naked eye. Typically, they are suspended in the air due to their small size and the electrostatic charge that they carry. 99% of dust in the home is made up of the tiniest particles, and these are able to even by-pass the body?s system like the nose, and the windpipe. Even the body is designed to filter out only particles greater than 3-5 microns in size and keep them away from the lungs.

A typical house contains dust from pollen, spores, pet dander, lint, bacteria, etc. Even regular home activities like cooking or dusting add to the dust in the air inside the house. Such dust particles results in irritation of eyes and on entering the respiratory system, may cause respiratory disorders, damage to the lungs, or in unique cases, even cancer. In order to keep the quality of the air inside the home healthy, good quality furnace filters for your furnace unit should be used. There are various types of filters available on the market. These can be disposable, reusable or refillable. They?re usually made from materials like fiberglass, metal, man-made or natural fibers. Pleated Filters- These are a modified kind of panel filters that have pleats or folds to increase its surface area. This design change makes it more efficient at trapping dust particles due to increased surface area. However, here too, the furnace filter starts resisting airflow once it starts collecting dust particles and thus should be replaced regularly.

High Efficiency Pleated Filters- These filters have an additional component of electrostatic charge that is designed to capture extremely small particles and various allergens, which make-up 99% of the particulate composition of the air. However, even these should be changed at regular intervals to maintain the air quality, and the airflow. Alternatively, refillable furnace filters are also available in this type.

Does the Truth Help or Hurt Relationships?

Remember how your relationship was in the very beginning?

You stayed up all night talking about everything - your dreams and desires and even the things that scare or embarrass you. But then, as the relationship went a long, you stopped talking about so much. Everything became so heavy and meaningful.

In the beginning, things were great. There was a level of trust and open communication that created intimacy and understanding. So, what happened to that? Where did it go and how can you get it back?

I used to try to protect my partner from those heavy, bad moods and ugly thoughts. I went to my room and hung out until I felt like socializing again.

I thought I was noble in my ability to control what came out of my mouth.

I thought I was kind because I never let on what I was thinking.

But what I was doing was ruining my relationships. There was no relationship. I was cutting myself off from others and never allowing them to know me. They never knew what I was thinking or feeling or needing.

I was an island. A very lonely island.

I really thought that if I let people know the ugly thoughts, not only would they be hurt - but they would probably become angry and disown me - betray me, talk shit behind my back. I would be the outcast.

So I beat them to the punch! Hah! I’d banish myself to my own room (or apartment, as I got older). I’d banish myself to silence.

You can either have a N.I.C.E. (Not Interested in Connecting Emotionally) relationship… where you hide what is true out of fear. Or you can have an alive, real relationship with intimacy, compassion and understanding.

Some people withhold from their partner and add an extra zinger — they put on a show of pain and discomfort in order to punish them. It’s an effort to communicate just how much pain they’re in. But none of it’s verbalized. It’s a show of the pain.

When you start keeping secrets and withholding,.. when you cut off the sharing of life force between you,… you’re cutting off the intimacy in your relationship. Even if you think you’re protecting your partner from painful or embarrassing thoughts - it’s still destroying your relationship.

Relationships require sharing… both our dreams and desires along with our doubts and fears.

What are you feeling and what needs of yours are being met or not? …

I’m happy because my need for support in keeping our home is being met.

I’m disappointed because my need for partnership isn’t being met in the way we’re handling our finances.

I’m sad because my need for connection isn’t being met when you’re out with your friends every evening.

Another tip: when you offer your feelings and needs, it’s best to follow them with a request. If you offer them without a request, your partner won’t know why you’re giving them the information.

Paul and I recommend asking, “Would you tell me what you heard me say?” (Avoid saying ‘could’- it implies they aren’t intelligent enough to repeat you. And avoid saying “What did I say?” because what you said and what they heard are two different things.)

And one more tip: don’t think that little behaviors are enough to be warranted as ’sharing feelings and needs.’ Fixing your honey a cup of coffee in the morning is very sweet, but it may not communicate your feelings of love and contentment like actually verbalizing the information. “I love you so much”, PLUS the cup of coffee goes much further.

Frowning and throwing around the bed covers while you make the bed may not adequately communicate your feelings and needs, either.

Instead, say: “I’m feeling disappointed because my need for support around the house isn’t being met. Would you be willing to discuss a way to help that would also meet your needs?”

There’s no room for misinterpretation there.

Try it out this holiday season: make a pact with your beloved to share absolutely ALL your feelings and needs for one day - the good, the bad and the ugly. Then follow the information with a request.

Be prepared to spend some time processing and discussing those feelings and needs as they come up.

However, try to avoid getting into BLAMING and ‘FAULT’ behind the feelings and needs. That tends to end up in a free-for-all about evaluations and judgments - who’s right and who’s wrong. Try to stick with feelings, needs and requests.

Try to do this on a day when you’ll have the time.

You won’t want to get cut off because you have to run to pick up the kids right when you’re getting to the heart of an issue that’s snuck up silently between you.

You’re going to want to stay and hold each other and talk it through… and feel the intimacy of clearing out all of those old, crusty feelings and unmet needs that have been clogging the flow of love.
